According to ABC Press Release, Bentley is the guy who joined the show for the wrong reasons. Furthermore, even before the filming began Ashley has been warned about this guy by a former “Bachelor” cast member (Reality Steve thinks it’s Michelle Money). However, when the man Ashley has been warned about arrives; though acting cynical, she is magnetized by his good looks and quiet charm. Reality Steve speculates that Bentley is going to be the main focus of the first few episodes because despite the fact that he joined the show not for the right reasons, he’s still one of her favorites. How ironic! Out of the 25 fantastic, good-looking and intelligent men she right away becomes fixated on the one who is not interested in her. Shall we say she is a proverbial loser? Is Ashley trying to unconsciously sabotage her chances to find true love? This suggests that deep inside Ashley believes she doesn’t deserve happiness.
The drama escalates during episode 3 as Bentley voluntarily leaves the show after having a personal date with Ashley and kissing her for the first time. What a purposeless cruelty! Ashley is devastated. Apparently, this is when she says crying, “I never knew that I would come in here and so soon be heartbroken,” in the promo video. Steve also speculates that Bentley could be this season’s Ed. In other words, he could be coming back on the show at some point. Note: nothing is confirmed, but Steve says he wouldn’t put it past him or the show. Personally, if this was to be true, I don’t think it would be good for Ashley. After all, it didn’t work out for Jillian. For your information, after a year of living together Jillian and Ed broke up and are no longer a couple.
Since there’s so much drama early on, let’s hope that Season 7 of The Bachelorette will not be a journey to heartbreak city!
Latest from Reality Steve: During episode 6 Bentley returns and makes an appearance. However, the details are a bit sketchy. The end result is he doesn’t return to the “game”, doesn’t go on any dates, and isn’t part of the rose ceremony. He appears to talk to Ashley about whatever. Maybe to apologize for coming across as the “villain”, maybe to try and convince her he was really there for the right reasons, or maybe he did try to get back in the game and she rejected him. Whatever the case, he is sent back home this episode and never “re-enters the game”, for lack of a better phrase. Not quite sure what the whole point of it is, but just know this is where Bentley re-appears on the show.

I met Bentley for the first time lastnight. Very nice guy. He served an LDS mission with my husband. He spilled the beans on a lot of stuff about the show that I won’t share, but let’s just say the network has been apologizing to him a lot.

I thought Mormoms were supposed to be good people who don’t lie, cheat or steal? Also thought Mormons don’t get divorced either or engage in pre martial sex. Please don’t label Mormons because of this guy. And sometimes people call themselves Mormons even when their actions and thoughts aren’t consistent with LDS beliefs.
Oh and his comment that things would have gone differently if the contestant were Emily, clearly indicates that he only likes blondes.
I don’t think the ex-wife looks like a play boy bunny. She is dressed very modestly, wearing a long sleeved turtle neck in this picture. Some women just fill out their turtle necks differently than others. But I also am curious as to why they divorced just after having a cute little baby. That is odd and suspicious.

Bentley certainly typifies the type of man who, for religious or other reasons, believes that women are not equals to be treated with respect. He treated her like she had no feelings, and was so callous and cruel about it. He makes your religion look bad. You are silly as a woman to say he is a nice guy Did you hear the things he said on TV about a girl who had done nothing to him? LDS is a religion that oppresses and disrespects females. Cattle, really? That couldn’t be further from the truth. I have been in the LDS church for 6 years (used to be Methodist) and have seen many men stand up in church and tell how thankful they are for their wives. I wouldn’t raise my daughter in the church if I thought she would be treated badly. All LDS members, including women, are encouraged to get as much education as possible (hence the BYU University system). I don’t know of any other conservative religion that makes getting a higher degree a priority for women. As for Bentley–he is disgusting. He is not a strict Mormon, otherwise he wouldn’t act the way he does and say things about Ashley being only good for tickling his *****. If he is really active in church, his bishop is going to have to have a sit down talk with him and take away his temple recommend, if he even has one.
Ok…my husband and I were both raised LDS (Mormon) in different states. Granted, both of our churches were drastically different from each other. However, there was ALWAYS one key fact in common: We both treat each other as EQUALS, regardless of our SEX. In fact, my husband is more of the sidelines guy, and I’m more of the go-getter. I actually have a lot more say in things then he does (which is drastically different from what YOU described Liz). I am NOT cattle and neither is my husband. If I ever felt that way, you can bet your butt I would be dumping my man AND our religion. Maybe you should learn more about our religion before you start insulting it, eh?
I cannot honestly believe that this loser is actually LDS. I curse, and smoke (all against guidelines)…but never in my wildest imagination would I EVER think of talking the way he does! I may not be considered as devout as the rest of the other LDS members, but there are definately some lines even I won’t cross. Bentley has managed to even make bile come up in MY throat. That is a very difficult thing to do, considering I thought I’d heard almost ALL of it being a military wife. Apparently, I was mistaken.
Also, a good side comment is…WHICH BYU did he attend? My brother-in-law attended BYU Idaho and is NOT LDS. Did Bentley really attend BYU (in Utah)? I’d like to actually see some proof that he IS indeed LDS. IF he is, I feel disgusted by his actions and can’t even begin to describe how negatively his attitude/words have impacted MY religion.

He may have gone on the show for the right reasons, but once he realized it was not a girl he was interested in, he should have not tried to win her over, lead her on or accept a rose – a complete PIG!!! I don’t know what on earth the network would have to apologize to him for. How could he be a good father if he stayed away from his child to play a game -a conquest??
