It might seem to be uncanny that not long before the untimely death of aspiring actress, Brittany Murphy, the DVD rental chain Redbox had put out a poster about her upcoming new movie, Deadline, depicting her lifeless body in a bathtub. (Note: The word “deadline” implies a direct line to death). Now they are trying to do everything possible to pull the posters as fast as they can from the same outlets. Why? Because the truth is, what started as a natural advertising campaign has turned out to be too eerily close to reality. In fact, this poster seems to ominously point toward her untimely end. Is it a coincidence or is there another explanation? The question clearly demands an answer. Most people would agree, how could anyone have known that the bizarre chain of events would be linked to her death?
Even though scientists might outright reject the notion of meaningful coincidences, there are many psychic researchers who might think different of the poster’s uncanny message. Carl Jung, master of subconscious symbolism and father of the theory of synchronicity, would simply say that it’s all just another example of the mysterious nature of mind beyond matter.
What is most auspicious is that the storyline of the plot exhibits symbolic elements hinting of the fateful days ahead for this vivacious 32-year old actress. The main character that Brittany portrays, Alice, is faced with a crucial crisis in the midst of her life and struggles in the throes of a mental breakdown. In fact, we discover an uncanny element of presentiment woven into the fabric of the movie suggestive of Brittany’s upcoming end. Alice is haunted by the ghost of a dead woman whose tragic end she is driven to understand. There seems to be a deeper connection between Alice and Brittany. It is as if Brittany was being forewarned of her impending fate. Dare we call it a cryptic message from the other side, one that could have helped Brittney detour her tragic end?
